May 19, 2010: Mines Risk Education Training for batch II

The Training course for second batch of trainees starts May 19, 2010 in Islamabad for the field staffs of the UNICEF and (SPADO) joint awareness and sensitization program against landmines and UXOs in Tank and D.I.Khan. The training has been designed with the technical support of a reputed UK based organization, the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) who are also giving their inputs for development of curriculum and monitoring mechanism for Mines Risk Education programs.

The two rounds training program consists of a Training of Trainers (TOTs) workshop in the first and two further field staff trainings in the second round. In the first round of training four staff members were trained as Master Trainers who are now further building capacity of the program staffs from the field. The training component foresees to benefit 40,000 populations from affected North Waziristan Agency.

The activity is a part of the emergency mines risk education program ventured together by UNICEF and SPADO for the IDPs communities of South Waziristan settled in Tank and D.I.Khan of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa.
