Development and Poverty Reduction:

The current global socio-economic scenario is strikingly marked by unprecedented disparities between the developed and under developed countries with regards to socio-economic and scientific advancement. The acceleration of scientific and technological revolution in advanced countries has further necessitated radical reformation in the socio-economic and political institutions, malnutrition, hunger, wide spread diseases, high mortality rates, etc, are all sharp indicators vitally calling for urgent program for survival in under developed countries. Unfortunately, Pakistan, a South Asian state presents a gloomy picture in these indicators.

The development and poverty reduction component relates to socio-economic development, where balanced and objective approach will be evolved to reduce poverty, which is the main cause of unrest and all other evils and emphasis will be given in identifying snags and bottlenecks hindering growth in various sectors and in this regard concrete suggestion will be made as how to achieve accelerated and sustainable development in such vital socioeconomic sector .

Currently SPADO is involved in social mobilization of the tribal and rural communities in North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

In Malakand Agency, SPADO with the support of Trust for Voluntary Organizations (TVO) a European Union funded agency is carrying out a project on primary health care. Under the Agra Community Sanitation Project SPADO will construct 200 household latrines with the active participation of local communities. Besides these the organization has established community based organizations (CBOs) and is constantly building their capacities to effectively and efficiently utilize the available resources.
